Location: Glen Burnie, MD | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, M-F 8am - 4pm | Compensation: Not specified Overview A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract engagement with potential for permanent placement. This is a 3 months assignment supporting a clinical lab environment, and the role is essential for ensuring accurate specimen collection and smooth patient care workflows, requiring experience with pediatrics, geriatrics and hard sticks. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature and protocol to maintain specimen integrity Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Minimum 1 year of experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Experience with pediatrics, geriatrics and hard sticks Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This contract position in Glen Burnie, MD offers the potential to transition into a permanent role, with a straightforward M-F 8am - 4pm schedule. #J-18808-Ljbffr Software Placement Group
