Demonstrate a strong commitment to the philosophy and goals of the mission of Hebrew SeniorLife and recognize resident/patient dignity and choice in aspects of daily life. They will apply person-centered care practices to seniors including those with dementia and other physical and cognitive limitations. They will strive to make every patient encounter into a positive and meaningful experience and opportunity, while ensuring the provision of safe and efficient quality care. Scheduling for this position will be determined on an on-going basis and communicated weekly, monthly schedules will be prepared for planning purposes.Practice acts of hospitality and kindness, actively greet and help people both on and off the bus.Compiles with traffic regulations to operate vehicle in a safe and courteous mannerAbility to assist residents/patients with wheelchairs and walkers on and off transportation vehicles using safe patient handling techniquesWork from written requisitions or verbal instructionsPrioritize urgency of work requestsFollow standard and prescribed safety regulationsReports any equipment found to be unsafe or broken immediately to supervisorPuts Customer Service first: Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a safe, caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rightsMaintain the confidentiality and security of all facility and patient related information (HIPPA)Subject to being called in for emergenciesArrive 15 minutes before scheduled trip to warm up or cool off the carRecord on daily sheet starting and ending mileage, starting and ending times and your initials.Report any problems or repairs that need to be attended to the Transportation Coordinator.Use of phone only when necessary; no personal calls allowed on bus phone.Communicate in real time with Transportation Coordinator for departure and arrival and status of patientsStore gas receipts in monthly envelope provided.Turn gas envelope in to Transportation Coordinator at the end of each month.Schedule all vehicle maintenance and inspections.Responsible for vehicle fleet cleanliness.During times of no scheduled transportation appointments, provide support to life enhancement and nursing teams with patient engagement activities as requested, such as providing encouragement, companionship, and feeding assistance to patients during mealtimes.Assist with all other duties as assigned Transportation Coordinator and Administrative DirectorCompletes special projects as assigned.Required Qualifications:Must wear seat belt when driving.Maintain professional appearance at all timesComply with all safety rules and regulationsComply with Position ResponsibilitiesKeep transportation vehicle in a clean and tidy conditionFamiliar with the Boston, Massachusetts geographyMust be professional, proactive, collaborative, conscientious and results-oriented individual.Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change.Must have an optimistic and positive demeanor, excellent oral and written communication skills, good intuition and able to adapt to changing priorities and display good, sound judgment with a sense of humor.Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change.Demonstrate competencies for safe patient handling practices.Preferred Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentMust have a Massachusetts Driver’s License with ability to operate vehicles.Must be able to read, write and understand the English Language3 years experience in related workObtain BLS, EMT, or First Responder certification within 90 daysDemonstrated ability to think clearly during emergency situations.Strong interpersonal skills.Ability to work relatively unsupervised and make independent decisionComputer literacy required; experience with Windows, Word, ExcelRemote Type:On-siteSalary Range:$19.67 - $27.53 #J-18808-Ljbffr
