Details Acute care ICU Float Pool covering a combination of MICU, SICU, TICU, and CVICU units Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1-2 depending on acuity, may flex up to 1:3, with 1:1 for high acuity patients (CRRT, IABP, Impella) Uses Epic EMR 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) 6-9 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule Must float within Zone 1 facilities: Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Francis InterQuest, St. Mary Corwin, and St. Thomas More May be required to float into other acuity levels including PCU/Stepdown and MS-Tele units Rare on-call/standby requirement during low census periods No home base facility; float assignment communicated on or before start date No nurse aides on unit; support staff used only for sitter needs Requirements Active CO or Compact RN license required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA) Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required First-time travelers require 3 years of ICU experience and prior Epic experience Must be comfortable titrating critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin Must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry strips Copy of driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Provide ICU-level nursing care across a combination of critical care units within the assigned float zone Designated charge nurse present on each unit, typically without a patient assignment unless necessary Designated respiratory therapist available for the ICU but not always on-site; RNs expected to assist with respiratory troubleshooting and management Unit utilizes ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow oxygen, and breathing treatments Unit-specific orientation consists of 1-2 days with a preceptor Schedules are released 4-6 weeks in advance and may include single-facility assignments or just-in-time facility placement with 1-2 hours notice May be required to participate in holiday rotation coverage Any scrub color is acceptable Must maintain a permanent residence at least 60 miles from the Colorado Springs city center First-time travelers will be considered if they meet the 3 years ICU experience and Epic experience requirements Candidates who have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible American Traveler Job ID P-748384.
