Seeking Talented General Cardiologists for VISN 20 Medical Specialty Care Oversight Taskforce (MASCOT)

The Veterans Administration Puget Sound Healthcare System (VAPSHCS) in Seattle, WA is seeking highly motivated General Cardiologist to provide cardiology consultation and management services to patient within VISN 20 Medical Specialty Care Oversight Taskforce (MASCOT). MASCOT is a hub and spoke cardiology program aimed at establishing a cardiology network across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska, specifically supporting veterans who live in areas with limited or no access to cardiology care.

Cardiologists will be expected to develop a strong telehealth presence in the VISN and serve as a consultant/resource for cardiology and primary care advanced providers in the region. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in growing a clinical practice and developing key relationships with partners to build the region‘s hub and spoke cardiology program. The cardiologist will be experienced in the diagnosis and management of coronary heart disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, congenital heart disease and heart rhythm disorders. Specific clinical responsibilities include outpatient consultative cardiology (including telehealth), inpatient consultation, cardiac study interpretation. Expertise in electrocardiography, ambulatory rhythm monitoring, stress testing, and echocardiography is required. Board certification/eligibility in echocardiography is expected.

Candidates will be responsible for supervision, mentorship, and education of cardiology advanced practice providers within the network and coordination of care between facilities. This individual will report to the VISN 20 Cardiology MASCOT director for the regional cardiology hub and spoke network. This position may require travel to multiple duty stations within VISN 20.

The VAPSHCS is a Joint Commission accredited, referral level 1a/high complexity, 459 bed facility serving Veterans in Washington State, including the rapidly expanding Puget Sound area.
