Job Description Job Title: Quality Coordinator, MMPK Department: Quality Reports To: Operations Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Summary The Quality Coordinator, reporting to the Operations Manager, ensures products and processes meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements within an IATF 16949-certified manufacturing environment. This role drives continuous improvement and defect prevention by leading root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and maintaining quality management system compliance. Working cross-functionally, the Quality Engineer monitors process performance, manages nonconforming materials, and applies core quality tools such as PFMEA, control plans, SPC, and PPAP. The position also supports audits, customer and supplier quality activities, and fosters a culture of operational excellence and consistent product quality. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Safety - Promote a culture of safety by participating in safety idea program, ensuring safety within quality activities, wearing appropriate PPE, conducting worker observation audits, and driving yourself to achieve zero lost-time injuries. QMS Compliance - Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and MISI Production Way requirements, including adherence to documented processes, risk-based thinking, audits and continuous improvement expectations. Quality General - Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements, PPAP submissions, internal audits, corrective actions, and related continuous improvement activities. Support Roles – Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and Safety to improve outcomes; provide guidance and training on quality tools and methodologies; assist in manufacturing feasibilities and supplier evaluations. Inventory & Delivery - Manage receiving and shipping functions to ensure accurate material flow, inventory control, proper handling, and on-time delivery performance. KPIs - Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor quality performance, analyze trends, and implement data-driven improvements across all functional areas. Report performance, risks and improvement plans to management, ensuring transparency and strategic alignment. Root Cause Resolution - Lead cross-functional teams in root cause analysis and problem-solving using methodologies such as 5 Why, Lean Manufacturing, and 8D. Process - Drive the development, revision, and standardization of work instructions to ensure accurate documentation of process instructions. Apply best practices to promote consistency across all shifts and operators, ensuring job tasks are performed uniformly and in accordance with established standards. Supervisory Responsibilities No direct oversight of local personnel but may lead initiatives and be assigned as mentor to quality technician. Education and/or Experience Associates’ degree (AA) and 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint), ERP software. Other Skills and Abilities IATF:16949 training is desired but not required AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA) are desired but not required Corrective-Preventive Action (Root Cause Analysis, 5Why, 8D, Fishbone) required Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify problems and implement effective solutions to enhance processes. Steel-related industry knowledge and experience is desired but not required Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential for identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively train staff and report to management. Travel: Ability to travel up to 15% of time.
