Special Education Teacher - Avon, Indiana

Job Description

A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Special Education Teacher to make a positive impact in a life skills classroom. Near Avon, IN, you’ll work onsite in a supportive setting with dedicated paraprofessional assistance. Four openings are currently available, each focused on nurturing diverse abilities and maximizing each student’s potential.

What We’re Seeking:

Valid Special Education Teaching Certification for Indiana
Experience working with multi-categorical or life skills caseloads preferred
Passion for fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments
Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, staff, and families
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Your Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction and individualized support to an intermediate life skills class with 9 students
Utilize evidence-based strategies to address students’ unique learning needs and goals
Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Collaborate with two paraprofessionals in the classroom to adapt lessons and activities
Maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom atmosphere
Track and report on student progress, communicating regularly with parents and staff
