Registered Nurse (RN) – Youth Detention Center

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is building a pipeline of compassionate Registered Nurses for an upcoming 13-week contract opportunity at a Youth Detention Center in Raleigh/Durham area. Position Overview

• Location: Butner, NC
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (with strong potential for extension)
• Shift: 7a-3:30p and 12:30p-9p
• Schedule: Monday – Friday | 40 hours/week
• Compensation: $50/hr (travel rate available)

Expected Duties and Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care

• Conduct admission physical assessments for juveniles
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Monitor and document health status; respond to medical emergencies
• Provide wound care, IV therapy, and chronic disease management

Health Education & Counseling

• Educate youth on health conditions, medication adherence, and preventive care
• Offer guidance on hygiene, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle choices

Medical Coordination

• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals on care plans
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with discharge summaries

Emergency Response

• Provide timely emergency medical care when needed

Compliance & Safety

• Follow infection control standards and facility safety protocols
• Maintain compliance with state regulations and juvenile justice policies

What We're Looking For

• Experience: At least 1 year in correctional or behavioral health nursing (youth experience preferred)
• Licensure: Active NC RN license or multistate compact license
• Skills: Strong communication, empathy, and de-escalation abilities
• Commitment: Dependability and willingness to complete the full assignment
