Primary Care Medical Director

We are seeking an experienced Primary Care Physician to serve as a Medical Director for a growing outpatient physician practice in Lancaster, New Hampshire. This leadership opportunity combines clinical practice with medical direction and is ideal for a physician interested in long-term leadership within a close-knit rural community.
Position Highlights
Full-Time Leadership + Clinical Role
Medical Director: 16 hours/week
Primary Care: 24 hours/week
Approximately 20–24 patients per day
Outpatient primary care
EMR: Meditech Expanse + Dragon
Community call, including local nursing home patients, TBD
Supported by an RN Team Leader and dedicated Medical Assistant
Strong IT and marketing support
Medical Director Responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership and oversight for physician practice providers.
Promote quality, safety, and consistency of clinical care.
Mentor and support providers and coordinate medical staff education.
Participate in practice planning, operations, and strategic initiatives.
Collaborate with senior leadership, practice managers, and clinical teams.
Develop and implement outpatient clinical policies and workflows.
Support provider recruitment and onboarding.
Address provider, patient, and staff concerns and facilitate resolution of clinical issues.
Monitor provider quality, utilization, productivity, and performance metrics.
Lead quality improvement and value-based care initiatives.
Serve as the practice EMR superuser and advocate for technology solutions.
Support controlled-substance best practices and initiatives addressing social determinants of health.
Serve as chair of the physician practices and participate in appropriate medical staff and quality committees.
Make periodic site visits to practice locations as needed.
Primary Care Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care.
Evaluate and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
Perform preventive care, wellness visits, and health screenings.
Develop individualized treatment plans and coordinate specialty referrals.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
Provide approximately 21.5 hours of direct patient care weekly, plus documentation time.
Qualifications
MD or DO
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
Minimum 5 years of outpatient primary care experience
Strong clinical leadership and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead providers
Collaborative, approachable, and decisive leadership style
Strong ethical standards and professional integrity
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
Strong computer/EMR skills
Interest in making a long-term commitment to the community preferred
Compensation & Benefits
