Director, Product Design

Job Title: Director, Product Design Location: New York, NY, Atlanta, GA, or Remote, USA Reports to: SVP, Product Exemption Status: Full-time, exempt Who We Are Impiricus is the Agentic Commercialization Platform for Healthcare. We help life sciences teams understand physician intent, coordinate the right clinical and commercial resources, and enable real-time action when HCPs need support. Our AI-powered platform acts as a field force multiplier: extending reach between rep visits, prioritizing the highest-impact path for each physician, and connecting HCPs to coverage, evidence, medical information, patient support, MSLs, field teams, samples, and approved content in the moments that matter. Founded by a practicing physician and a senior pharmaceutical executive, Impiricus was built to accelerate patient access to life-saving treatments through ethical, physician-first engagement. More than one million opted-in HCPs trust Impiricus as a preferred channel, including many who are underserved or hard to reach through traditional outreach. Products such as the Intelligently Optimized Network (ION), Pulse, Spark, and Ascend work together so every interaction can move from information to action. Guided by our Physician Advisory Board, we keep engagement clinically meaningful, compliant, and grounded in better patient care. Job Summary The Director, Product Design is a player-coach role: the team, the practice, and hands-on work on the most impactful product surfaces. That means user discovery, UX, UI, prototyping, and the standards that keep experiences coherent across mobile, web, and platform. Marketing owns brand design, marketing creative, and the corporate website. This role does not. Everything here is product: what HCPs, patients, and internal users see and do in Ascend, DocUpdate, Curate, and the internal tools our teams build on, including the homegrown AI surfaces that ship inside the product org. The Director runs discovery with users, sets the bar for craft, and manages designers as the function grows. AI is part of the job, not a side project. The team designs AI-assisted and agentic product experiences, and maintains the design framework (components, patterns, tokens, interaction rules) so it can be applied in product UI and incorporated into internal AI build tools, including Sage and other homegrown platforms.

On product teams, this role is the design partner in the triad with the product lead and engineering lead. PM experience helps but is not required. Running discovery and operating as a peer to PM and engineering is. Key Responsibilities Product Design Leadership - Own product design across the portfolio and set the bar for the function. - Stay hands-on on the highest-stakes surfaces when the team needs senior design depth. - Hold released product to a consistent standard for clarity, accessibility, and workflow fit. - Cover mobile, consumer-grade interaction where it applies, and complex health tech platform work in one practice. User Discovery - Plan and run user discovery with HCPs, patients, and internal users, and hold the team to the same bar on their surfaces. - Turn research and feedback into design direction the product team can act on. - Build durable understanding of physician and operator workflow and bring it into roadmap conversations early. - Partner with Product on measurement so experience changes can be judged after launch. Design System, Framework, and AI Design - Own the product design system: components, patterns, tokens, and how they are governed in production. - Maintain and extend the design framework so standards stay usable in code and in AI-assisted build flows, including homegrown tools the company builds on. - Design AI-powered product experiences where the roadmap requires them: conversational flows, agent interactions, and the UX guardrails that keep those surfaces trustworthy in a regulated context.
