North Beach-Occupational Therapist (Part-Time)

This is a .40 FTE Part-Time Position.

The Occupational Therapist as a member of the educational team, supports the education of students suspected of and/or diagnosed with disability in their least restrictive environment. The occupational therapist develops, implements and coordinates an occupational therapy program that includes providing screening, evaluation and interventions services.

• Provides direct, indirect, and consultative therapy services to eligible students.
• Administers evaluations, writes reports and develops IEPs on students referred and identified for special education services for student's age birth-21.
• Completes all required paperwork within required timelines as provided by regulations. Maintains timely and accurate student records, data and reports.
• Maintains timely and accurate student records, data and reports.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively with parents and staff.
• Participates as a collaborative team member in Child Find, Evaluation, and IEP meetings.
• Provides consultation to parents and school staff regarding augmentative devices and assists students in the use of augmentative devices.
• Designs and administers treatment programs to increase students' levels of functioning. Provides therapy and/or consultation for autism spectrum disorders.
• Provides therapy and/or consultation for autism spectrum disorders.
• Assists with prevocational programming for students age 14-21. Keeps abreast of research and new techniques.
• Attends appropriate professional and educational meetings.
• Assists in identifying and ordering assistive technology for students in need.
• Supervises paraeducators as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Washington ESA Certificate in Occupational Therapy
• Valid Washington Occupational Therapy License
• Prefer training and/or experience in assessment, IEP development and program implementation
• Expertise in word processing and willingness to learn the Special Education software system (currently IEP Online)
• Sound understanding of regulations governing special education
