The Mammography Technologist performs high-quality breast imaging procedures to assist in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of breast diseases. This role requires technical expertise, patient care skills, and adherence to all regulatory standards related to mammography and radiation safety.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform screening and diagnostic mammography procedures in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
- Prepare examination rooms, equipment, and materials for procedures, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
- Position patients properly and use immobilization techniques as needed to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
- Evaluate images for quality and accuracy; repeat imaging when necessary.
- Operate mammography, stereotactic, and related imaging equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform and document daily, weekly, and monthly quality control (QC) tests to maintain compliance with ACR, FDA, and MQSA regulations.
- Assist radiologists with stereotactic breast biopsies and other interventional procedures as required.
- Educate and reassure patients about the mammography process, addressing questions and concerns with empathy.
- Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation within the PACS system.
- Ensure adherence to radiation safety and infection control protocols.
- Report and document equipment malfunctions and coordinate maintenance as needed.
- Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and healthcare staff to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
- Participate in ongoing training, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.
