Sterile Processing Technician

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the proper handling, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This position requires expertise in the processes of decontamination, sterilization, and documentation of equipment maintenance. Candidates must be skilled in the assembly and wrapping of surgical instruments and trays. High-level disinfection and proper selection of wrapping materials are crucial components of this role. Flexibility to adapt to changing departmental needs is important, as this role may involve working on weekends. The technician will handle instruments related to specialties including spine, neuro, ortho, eye, ENT, GYN, urology, and robotics. Candidates should expect a fast-paced environment within a short-term acute care setting. Professional development opportunities are available through continued education and training in sterilization and safety protocols. Teamwork and communication skills are essential, as the technician will collaborate with clinical staff to ensure patient safety and surgical efficiency.
