Museum Aide - Temporary

Job Summary

Join our premier organization dedicated to the preservation, education, and research of coastal Worcester County! The Museum aide will staff the newly restored Museum of Ocean City, and the Ocean City Life Saving Station Museum. Museum aide will provide interpretation to visitors and answer questions regarding the history represented within the Museum. The museum aide is also responsible for maintaining the museum's cleanliness, which includes sweeping, removing trash, and dusting exhibits. The Museum aide will operate the museum's point of sale and accept admissions and donations from the public.

The schedule includes:

  • May-October: Up to 21 hours a week for 25 weeks
  • Saturday and Sunday: November-April 9:30 am -1:30 pm

SALARY

  • Hourly rate: $16.86

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Operate the museum's point-of-sale system for admissions and merchandise sales
  • Greet visitors and provide information about exhibits
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Town's tourism opportunities and local history
  • Provide interpretation and assistance during museum programs and events
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the museum, including restrooms, sweeping, trash removal, and dusting exhibits
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working with the public
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems - preferred

Applicants must be able to pass a post offer drug screening and background check.
