About the Position

The Outpatient Surgery RN is responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures. This includes pre-operative and post-operative care, patient education, and ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment. The RN collaborates with physicians, surgical teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality care and positive patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform pre-operative assessments and provide pre-op teaching to patients and families.

• Administer medications and monitor patient responses according to established protocols.

• Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring correct identification, consent, and procedure verification.

• Monitor patients in the recovery phase, managing pain, vitals, and post-op complications.

• Document all nursing care in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.

• Educate patients and families about post-operative care and discharge instructions.

• Communicate effectively with the surgical team regarding patient status and any concerns.

• Adhere to infection control and safety procedures.

• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete records of patient care and progress.

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.
