As a Scala Back-End Developer, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining sophisticated server-side applications using Scala and related technologies. Your primary responsibilities will include creating robust and scalable APIs, ensuring efficient data processing, and implementing business logic.A typical day may include:Utilizing your skills in Scala and Java programming language, functional programming paradigms, and RESTful API design and development to deliver high-performance backend solutions.Creating robust and scalable APIs, ensuring efficient data processing, and implementing complex business logic.Support distributed systems, version control with Git, build tools like Maven, and demonstrate your experience with SQL databases.Writing comprehensive unit tests and working with distributed systems to ensure the reliability and scalability of software architecture.Engage in a variety of technical and analytical tasks, including requirements analysis, system architecture design, and performance optimization of backend services.Defining technical specifications, ensuring data integrity and security, and proactively addressing system design weaknesses.Independently analyze and resolve complex problems, utilizing excellent multitasking skills and capacity to work as an independent contributor.Participate in design reviews and support system integration and testing efforts.Demonstrate your understanding of Scala, functional programming concepts, and modern backend development best practices.Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.Provide mentorship and leadership to junior team members.Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The likely salary range for this position is $120,700 - $163,300. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
