Registered Nurse (Med/Surg)

Location: Des Moines, IA
Start Date: November 23, 2026
Contract: 13 weeks, with possible extension
Shift: Nights, 4×12-hour shifts
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours/week

Requirements:

• Minimum 24 months of Medical-Surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Post-operative surgical experience highly preferred
• Experience caring for patients undergoing hip/knee procedures, mastectomies, and abdominal surgeries highly preferred
• PCA and Heparin experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• BLS (AHA) required
• Valid driver's license required
• Iowa state license required; compact license accepted

Scheduling:

• Night shifts, 4×12-hour shifts
• Guaranteed 48 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: Every 3rd weekend
• Holiday requirement: Unless the unit is closed, the contractor must work 1–2 of the following 3 winter holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day
• Call/standby requirement: None
• Floating: Required across campuses and units to similar units
