Sales Engineer Energy Solutions - Colorado

Job Title and Location Sales Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) – Remote (must reside in Colorado) Responsibilities Lead technical sales for commercial, industrial, and utility‑scale BESS projects across Colorado. Develop scopes, preliminary engineering, and conceptual designs. Engage early with customers, consultants, utilities, and EPCs to shape system architecture using bid specifications, utility requirements, and project documentation. Conduct site assessments, feasibility reviews, and DER introductions. Interpret RFPs, bid specifications, utility interconnection requirements, and engineering drawings. Prepare proposals, layouts, single‑line diagrams, and technical narratives. Collaborate with development, engineering, project management, and electrical sub‑contractors. Required Qualifications 3–7+ years of technical sales experience in BESS, UPS, microgrids, or power systems. Ability to interpret RFPs, bid specifications, technical drawings, and utility requirements. Strong understanding of BESS components (PCS/inverters, BMS/EMS, safety systems, balance‑of‑plant). Familiarity with large critical‑power systems. Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills. Must reside in Colorado and willing to travel up to 70% within the state. Maintain a clean driving record to meet company insurability standards. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field. Experience with both turnkey development and equipment‑only strategies. Familiarity with solar PV, EV charging, and multiple DER systems. Working knowledge of UL 9540/9540A, NFPA 855, NEC, IEEE 1547. Ability to support basic financial modeling (IRR, NPV, LCOS). Minimum Physical Requirements Standing, walking, using hands, talking, and hearing. Work may be indoor and/or outdoor; noise level may be moderate at times. Compensation and Benefits Base salary range: $90,700 – $136,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and education).
