Survey Party Chief/Survey Manager

District Overview Kiewit’s Central District operates in the central and south‑central regions of the United States, building heavy civil and transportation projects such as highways, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams and tunnels. Location We are hiring full‑time employees for a multi‑year project in San Ygnacio, Texas, with future opportunities in Colorado, Colorado, Texas, or other states on our project pipeline. Responsibilities Oversee all surveying operations for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to specifications. Develop and implement surveying plans, methodologies, and best practices to optimize field data collection and layout. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to create survey plans and schedules. Lead a team of surveyors and field personnel, providing training, mentorship, and technical guidance. Coordinate with construction teams to ensure alignment between design intent and field execution. Utilize advanced surveying technology, including GPS, total stations, LiDAR, and drones. Conduct quality‑control checks to verify survey accuracy and contractual compliance. Manage survey data processing and integration with project management and BIM software. Prepare and maintain detailed survey reports, logs, and documentation. Ensure all survey activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations and company policies. Enforce safety standards and resolve on‑site survey‑related challenges. Use Trimble Business Center, CAD (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation), and GIS for data management. Communicate effectively with superintendents, field crews, engineers, project managers, and clients. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred; Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification an asset. 7+ years of field construction survey experience with crew leadership in heavy civil, bridge, power, or water projects. Proficiency with Trimble Access/Business Center and survey equipment (GPS, total stations, LiDAR, drones). Strong math skills for calculations (area, volume, geometry). For Survey Manager candidates: prior Survey Manager experience and advanced CAD/GIS skills are required. Dynamic thinker, self‑starter, capable of setting standards for safety, quality, and productivity. Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to engage stakeholders at all levels. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally for project sites. Physical ability to lift equipment and perform manual tasks.
