Patient Service Representative - Breast Care Center

Job Description The position involves scheduling hospital and ambulatory admissions, coordinating pre‑admission testing, entering diagnostic orders into the management system, arranging surgery schedules, communicating issues to nursing or physician staff, using tasking appropriately, completing necessary forms, performing clerical duties such as faxing, photocopying, scanning, filing, and mailing, and establishing positive relationships with physicians and nursing staff. Responsible for scheduling hospital and ambulatory admissions. Verbalizes procedure for collection of pre‑admission testing data and coordinates required testing prior to admission. Schedules and enters diagnostic tests and procedures into orders management system. Arranges types and distributes surgery schedule. Communicates problems to Nurse, Physician, or Clinical Manager. Uses appropriate and timely tasking. Accurately completes any necessary forms for the patient. Performs clerical duties including faxing, photocopying, scanning, filing, and mailing. Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with physicians and nursing staff. Demonstrates understanding of submission of necessary documents for hospital and patient procedures. Demonstrates a working knowledge of booking and scheduling inpatient, outpatient, and special procedures. Demonstrates a working knowledge of insurance and pre‑certification requirements. Demonstrates knowledge for rescheduling and canceling procedures. Demonstrates customer service skills when communicating with peers or other departments. Demonstrates customer service skills to alleviate patient anxiety. Demonstrates good judgment in scheduling procedures to increase physician productivity. Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures. Logs surgical procedures as needed. Arranges for specialty equipment or services as needed. Interacts with outside vendors or contracted services as needed. Other job duties as required. Education, Certification, and Experience High School or GED required; vocational or technical school degree preferred. Heart Saver certification within 90 days of hire required. 0–1 year of experience preferred; 2–4 years of experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limits while maintaining accuracy. Problem‑solving, critical thinking, and priority‑setting skills. Experience with standard office equipment (phone, fax, copier, scanner, email, voicemail) preferred. Experience with standard office technology in a Windows environment preferred. Experience with patient care equipment preferred. Pay Range $18.13–$22.02 per hour. Compensation is based on industry standards and may vary with experience and location.
