Nurse Managers are responsible for the following:  

 

• The Nurse Manager facilitates the realization of the organization's mission, strategic plan, and values at the point of care.  
• Plans for, leads, coordinates and facilitates the provision of quality care and service for a defined population of patients and facilitates the procurement of appropriate supplies/equipment and provides for adequate numbers and mix of staff to deliver nursing care.  
• The Nurse Manager demonstrates excellence in problem solving, leadership, communication, fiscal responsibility and teamwork.  
• The Nurse Manager provides leadership, consultation and collaboration in a dynamic, multidisciplinary teaching environment.  
• She/He collaborates with administrators and other members of the health care team to design, evaluate and improve patient care systems and processes.  
• She/he supports nursing professional development, Magnet, and Shared Governance through participation in, and mentoring of colleagues, on councils and the Clinical Ladder program. 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications for this position include:  

 

 

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required, master’s degree preferred.  
• 3 years acute care experience  
• 2 years’ experience in a similar or ‘like’ unit is preferred: demonstrated leadership and management potential required.  
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of PA 
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.  
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - American Heart Association and PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association certifications required 
• CNML - Certified Nurse Manager and Leader - American Organization for Nursing Leadership preferred 
• Specialty/leadership certification within 2 years of hire 
• MICU RN experience strongly preferred
