Compensation: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour, depending on experience

About the Opportunity

Springborn Staffing is partnering with multiple public accounting firms throughout the Portland metro area that are seeking Seasonal Tax Preparers for the upcoming tax season (mid-January - April 15th, 2027).

These opportunities range from entry-level tax preparation support roles to experienced tax preparer positions with greater responsibility and client interaction. Whether you're starting your accounting career, pursuing an accounting degree, or bringing years of tax experience to the table, we may have an opportunity that's a great fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare individual federal and state income tax returns.
• Organize and review client tax documents and supporting financial information.
• Enter tax data accurately into tax preparation software.
• Assist with gathering and verifying client information.
• Perform basic tax research as needed.
• Communicate professionally with clients regarding missing information and document requests.
• Review tax returns for accuracy and completeness before filing.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client financial information.
• Support tax professionals and firm staff during peak tax season workloads.

Requirements & Qualifications

Entry-Level Candidates ($20-$22/hour)

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Pursuing or holding a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to learn tax software and tax concepts quickly.

Experienced Tax Preparers ($22-$25/hour)

• 3-5 years of tax preparation experience.
• Pursuing or holding a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience preparing individual tax returns.
• Familiarity with federal and state tax filing requirements.
• Strong data entry, analytical, and organizational skills.

Senior Tax Preparers ($25-$30/hour)

• 5+ years of tax preparation experience.
• Experience preparing a variety of individual and business tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines during busy season.
• Experience communicating directly with clients preferred.
