Technical Project Manager

Description

Fisher Auto Parts is seeking an organized, highly adaptable Technical Project Manager to join our IT department. Operating across a multi-unit distribution environment where operational uptime is critical, this role bridges business needs with technical execution. The successful candidate will drive a diverse portfolio of concurrent IT projects ranging from multi-site hardware deployments and network upgrades to enterprise system migrations, legacy server decommissions, and vendor changes.

You will work closely with system administrators, network engineers, desktop support specialists, software teams, third-party vendors, and store/warehouse leadership to establish project schedules, track deliverables, eliminate bottlenecks, and ensure initiatives are completed on time and within scope.
Supervision

The employee in this position reports to the VP of Information Technology and does not supervise other employees.
Responsibilities

• Coordinate and drive the full project lifecycle for concurrent enterprise IT infrastructure, hardware, network, and software initiatives across hundreds of branch locations.
• Plan, schedule, and track large-scale hardware deployments (e.g., specialized handheld devices, thin clients, payment terminals, and network equipment), ensuring equipment procurement, staging, imaging, logistics, and physical installations remain on schedule.
• Coordinate complex infrastructure modernizations, such as warehouse wireless access point replacements, server upgrades/decommissioning schedules, and specialty device integrations.
• Organize and oversee multi-system migration projects (such as email migrations and cloud transfers) and comprehensive system decommissions (revoking legacy access, offboarding third-party services, reallocating system permissions, and transferring account ownership).
• Lead regular tactical project syncs with internal IT teams (SysAdmins, Network Engineers, Helpdesk, Software Engineers) and business units to keep technical dependencies aligned, assign action items, and ensure accountability.
• Serve as the primary operational liaison with hardware vendors, telecom providers, third-party partners, and service technicians; track vendor deliverables, cross-reference contract scopes, and manage equipment logistics.
• Maintain structured project schedules, roadmaps, and risk logs; proactively identify and resolve project roadblocks to meet strict deadlines.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Proven track record of managing multiple, fast-moving technical projects simultaneously within a multi-site enterprise, retail, or distribution network.
• Core foundational understanding of enterprise IT assets, endpoint hardware imaging and deployment, server lifecycles (e.g., Windows Server), data networks, POS/terminal hardware, and basic cybersecurity protocols.
• Understanding of system, domain, and email migration workflows, as well as legacy system offboarding, access management, and hardware decommissioning processes.
• Strong skills in coordinating vendor agreements, logistics, third-party field technicians, and equipment rollouts across hundreds of geographically dispersed locations.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication competencies, with a demonstrated ability to foster collaboration, align technical teams without direct supervisory authority, and report project status clearly to IT leadership.
• Outstanding schedule management, task prioritization, and risk management skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with modern project management software and digital asset tracking tools.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday during core business hours. While we support a healthy work-life balance, flexibility is required. This may involve working outside of standard hours to meet critical project deadlines or address urgent production issues.
