Day in the Life As a DSP/Caregiver you provide hands‑on care to individuals with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities and help them live as independently as possible. You assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, meal preparation, feeding, restroom assistance, and medication administration. You help residents feel at home by assisting with housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, and accompanying them on community outings. You maintain accurate documentation of progress and support each client’s physical, mental, and psychosocial well‑being while respecting their comfort, privacy, and dignity. Responsibilities Assist with bathing, meal preparation, feeding, restroom assistance, and medication administration. Support housekeeping, laundry, and grocery shopping. Accompany residents on local community outings. Build strong relationships with each client and maintain a caring environment. Maintain accurate documentation of clients’ progress. Encourage each individual’s ability to maintain or attain high well‑being. Respect and uphold privacy, dignity, and well‑being of all individuals served. Support group‑home operations including general housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and laundry. Assist with transportation duties to medical appointments, errands, and community activities. Follow safety and infection control procedures, including hand washing and glove use. Communicate and interact effectively with individuals served, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors. Participate in staff meetings, annual program plan meetings, and complete required training annually. Respond appropriately to staff shortages by assisting in other homes’ programs as assigned. Experience & Qualities Previous experience working with adults who have developmental or intellectual disabilities is preferred. Kind, calm, patient, and able to help clients through difficult situations. Can connect with people easily. Provides compassionate and loving care. Discreet with confidential information. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for at least 3 years. Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Report, physical exam/TB test, and drug test. Reliable transportation to assigned location. Willingness to complete a criminal background check and child abuse clearance. Physical ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Basic computer proficiency. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Attend employee orientation and complete 1 week of mandatory on‑site training from 9 am‑4‑5 pm. Confidentiality of all data, including individuals served, employee and operations data. Compliance with all regulatory requirements and agency policies. HIPAA standards. Acts professionally and represents Indian Creek Foundation positively. Works cooperatively with co‑workers, plans and completes tasks with minimal supervision, and uses appropriate judgment. Applies tactful and appropriate communication in all situations. Reports and follows up on complaints, problems, and concerns with appropriate personnel. Promotes positive public relations with individuals served, family members, other team members, and community. Completes required training, maintains acceptable attendance, adheres to dress code and personal hygiene. Completes all documentation to ensure compliance with regulations and agency policies. Exhibits behavior as outlined in the Code of Conduct. Other Duties Assist the immediate supervisor with various tasks to support program and/or department operations. Perform supportive tasks aligned with essential job functions, which may be altered or redesigned. Attend additional training required by program or department. Work Schedules Full‑time: All residential homes are within a 10‑15 mile radius of Souderton, PA (Hatfield, Lansdale, Souderton, Sellersville, Perkasie, Telford, Harleysville, Schwenksville, Salfordville, Quakertown). 2nd shift: Tuesday‑Friday 2:30 pm‑11:00 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am‑11:00 pm OR Sundays 9:00 am‑11:00 pm & Monday‑Thursday 2:30 pm‑11:00 pm. 3rd shift (Experienced DSPs only): Wednesday‑Saturday 11:00 pm‑9:00 am (awake & asleep) OR Sunday‑Wednesday 11:00 pm‑9:00 am.
