Teachers Aide, Day Shift, Therapeutic Nursery Program

Lourie Center - Rockville The Lourie Center, Head Start seeks to hire an experienced Teachers Aide who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the classroom teacher, provides individual instruction to the assigned student with the goal of increasing the student’s overall school performance Assists the teacher in the development and preparation of materials to be used with the assigned student Provides support as necessary to assigned student during group activities As requested, accompanies, participates, and/or observes the student in therapy sessions and facilitates the student's progress toward academic and social-emotional goals within the classroom Records observational data on student behavior at the predesignated intervals in collaboration with the teacher and interdisciplinary team Applies recommendations and requirements of the student's reports and IEP Participates in the school's interdisciplinary team meetings, workshops, and other selected school staff meetings Continues professional education in special education or a related discipline by attending internal or external workshops, conferences, and/or coursework Performs other duties as assigned by the teacher when the designated student is absent May be reassigned based on availability and best practice, and position may be eliminated if the student no longer requires support Lourie Center School only: Assist teacher in development of Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Plan for assigned student Lourie Center School only: Available to restrain student in the student control position Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in education, psychology or other related discipline preferred.
