HVAC Technician

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Operating Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of building systems across a large commercial campus consisting of 9 buildings and approximately 1.5 million square feet .

The campus includes office environments, tenant-occupied spaces, and data center operations. The Operating Engineer will work alongside a dedicated onsite engineering team to maintain HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and critical building systems while ensuring reliable facility operations and a high level of tenant satisfaction.

Candidates with strong commercial facilities experience, CMMS knowledge, and exposure to data center or mission-critical environments are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance across campus building systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, and associated mechanical systems.
• Perform general facility maintenance including plumbing, lighting, painting, pressure washing, locksmith work, and minor building repairs.
• Inspect, maintain, and assist with generators, UPS systems, water treatment systems, and other critical infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot electrical, DDC, pneumatic controls, and related building automation systems.
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and inspection activities according to established procedures.
• Respond promptly to tenant service requests and facility-related work orders.
• Enter, update, and close work orders within the facility's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Participate in the rotating on-call schedule and respond to emergency or after-hours facility issues when required.
• Support reliable operation of data center and other mission-critical building systems.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in ongoing technical, operational, and safety training.
• Work collaboratively with other members of the onsite engineering and facilities team.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial or industrial facility maintenance, building engineering, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical maintenance, or a related trade.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance on commercial building equipment.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot building equipment and mechanical systems.
• Strong customer service and professional communication skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an onsite engineering team.
• Ability to participate in a rotating Wednesday-to-Wednesday on-call schedule.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work from ladders up to approximately 30 feet.
• Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift, and perform other physical activities associated with facility maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

• EPA Universal Certification .
• Electrical license or other relevant trade license.
• Experience using a CMMS; Corrigo experience is highly preferred .
• Previous experience working in a data center, mission-critical, or high-availability facility environment .
• Trade school education, apprenticeship, union training, military technical experience, or related college education.
• Experience with commercial chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, and HVAC systems.
• Experience coordinating or overseeing vendors and contractors.
• Previous involvement with facility projects or project coordination.
• Familiarity with commercial facility management best practices.
