Responsibilities

The Backend Software Engineer will be responsible for:

• Taking end-to-end ownership of the radiology platform backend, from design to implementation, testing, monitoring, and deployment.
• Building reliable and high-performance server applications using Python and Django.
• Collaborating with radiologists, clinical staff, and IT teams to discover requirements, prototype solutions, and validate features.
• Improving application quality, reliability, and performance, including automated testing, robust error handling, and graceful failure recovery.
• Partnering with frontend engineers to ship new features and optimize overall system performance.

Is this you?

• 4+ years of experience building and maintaining complex, high-performance web applications in cloud environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Python web frameworks (Django preferred) with supporting development tools.
• Well-practiced debugging and problem-solving skills, with deep understanding of underlying abstractions.
• A product engineering mindset with a bias toward frequent user feedback and iterative shipping.
• End-to-end ownership mindset across design, implementation, testing, monitoring, and fixing production issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building or maintaining LLM- or ML-based systems, including operations and data pipelines.
• Experience measuring and optimizing web application and database performance.
• Experience deploying and operating backend services with Kubernetes or other container orchestration and managing cloud infrastructure with Terraform or similar tools.
• Familiarity with systems programming, Linux/POSIX, concurrency, networking, memory management, or filesystem operations.
• Full-stack experience, ideally with Typescript/React to collaborate with frontend engineers.
• Knowledge of radiology, medical imaging, or healthcare environments.
