Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: RN Specialty: PCU Duration: 8 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years in requested specialty preferred License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI preferred Must-Have: - ED RN: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, TNCC (preferred) - ICU RN: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, TNCC (preferred) - PCU and Med/Tele RN: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, CPI preferred Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Progressive Care Unit. The facility has a Level 2 Trauma Designation and is a teaching hospital. It provides a range of services including chest pain and stroke care. The patient population includes those with general emergency conditions and specific diagnoses related to trauma, respiratory illnesses, and cardiac events. Common diagnoses include chest pain, heart failure, strokes, trauma from falls or accidents, and various medical-surgical conditions. The role requires skills in arrhythmia monitoring, sedation management, and knowledge of cardiac titratable drips. Candidates must possess proficiency in nursing skills related to cardiac, neuro, pulmonary, ortho, trauma, and surgical patients. The nurse will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, which may include nurse techs, respiratory therapists, and phlebotomists. The department encourages teamwork and timely response to patient needs. Weekend rotation and holiday commitments are part of the schedule. Flexibility with requests for time off is supported. Orientation involves a mix of facility and departmental training. This position may require floating to various areas including med-surg and critical care.
