Life Insurance Specialist - Warm Book + New Business

Job Description Most life insurance jobs hand you a phone and a prayer. This one hands you a book. Our American Family Insurance agency in Blue Springs is hiring a dedicated Life Specialist to own life insurance across the agency, both writing new business and working our existing client base. Hundreds of our auto and home clients have never had a real conversation about protecting their family's income. That conversation is your job. You will split your time between two things: developing new life clients through referrals, community connections, and outreach, and conducting reviews with existing agency households, people who already know us, already trust us, and already say yes to us on other lines. You will also service the life policies already on the books: annual reviews, beneficiary updates, and coverage adjustments as families change. This role suits someone who believes in the product. Life insurance is sold in conversations about kids, mortgages, small businesses, and what happens if the paycheck stops. If you can have those conversations with warmth and without flinching, you will do very well here, and you will be paid on a base plus commission structure that reflects it. Licensed candidates preferred. Strong unlicensed candidates with sales ability will be considered and supported through licensing. Benefits Paid Time Off (PTO) Health Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Parental Leave Hands on Training Mon-Fri Schedule Career Growth Opportunities Retirement Plan Responsibilities Write new life insurance business through referrals, networking, and self-generated prospecting Conduct life insurance reviews with existing agency clients across the property and casualty book Complete needs analyses and recommend appropriate term, whole life, and universal life coverage Present recommendations clearly to individuals, couples, and small business owners Manage the application process end to end: quoting, underwriting requirements, medical exams, and policy delivery Service the existing life book with annual reviews, beneficiary changes, coverage updates, and policy questions Partner with the sales team and telemarketer to identify and follow up on life opportunities Track activity, pipeline, and production in the agency management system Hit monthly life production goals Represent the agency at community events and build local referral relationships Requirements Missouri Life & Health insurance license, or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire (we will support you through the process) Prior life insurance sales experience strongly preferred Demonstrated ability to build trust quickly and have meaningful conversations about family finances Comfortable prospecting and asking for referrals Understanding of term, whole life, and universal life products preferred Strong presentation and closing skills Highly organized with excellent follow-through on long sales cycles Proficient with CRM and quoting systems Self-directed and accountable to production goals High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred Must be able to pass a background check #J-18808-Ljbffr The Juris Agency
