Area Health Information Specialist I

Area Health Information Specialist I 6427 Murray, UT – Full‑time, regular. This position is responsible for processing all release of information (ROI) specifically medical record requests, in a timely and efficient manner while ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and service. Associate must safeguard and protect the patient’s right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient’s medical information and that all releases of information are in compliance with request, authorization, company policy and HIPAA regulations. This position travels 75% or more of their time. Full‑time: Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM–4:30 PM MST Location: Various locations within Murray, UT Comfortable working in a high‑volume production environment Documenting information on multiple platforms using dual monitors Full benefits: PTO, Health, Vision, Dental Insurance, mileage reimbursement, 401(k) savings plan, and tuition assistance You will: Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with Company and Facility policies and procedures Maintain confidentiality and security with all privileged information Maintain working knowledge of Company and facility software Adhere to the Company’s Code of Conduct and policies Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and/or fluctuating volumes Assist with additional work duties or responsibilities as needed Apply medical privacy regulations consistently to guard against unauthorized disclosure Manage patient health records and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards Prepare new patient charts, gathering documents and information from paper sources and/or electronic health records Assemble medical records in standard order and verify accuracy and completeness Create digital images of paperwork to be stored in the electronic medical record Respond to requests for patient records, both within the facility and from external sources, and transmit them appropriately Answer inbound/outbound calls Assist with patient walk‑ins, faxes, mail, and data entry as required Schedule pick‑ups when necessary Assist with training associates in the HIS I position Generate reports for the manager or facility as directed Exceed level 1 productivity expectations as outlined at the specific site Participate in project teams and committees to advance operational strategies and initiatives Act in a lead role with staff regarding general questions and assist with new‑hire training and development Perform other duties as assigned What you will bring to the table: High School Diploma or GED Minimum 18 years of age Willingness to travel locally/regionally 75% or more of the time Ability to commute between locations as needed Capability to work overtime during peak seasons when required 1‑year Health Information related experience Meeting or exceeding Company’s Productivity Standards Basic computer proficiency and ability to use phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment regularly Professional verbal and written communication skills in English Detail‑ and quality‑oriented in handling accurate and compliant medical record information Strong data entry skills Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities Organizational and multitasking skills Ability to respond to requests in a fast‑paced environment Bonus points if: Previous production/metric‑based work experience In‑person customer service experience Ability to build relationships with on‑site clients and customers Comfortable bringing new ideas, process improvement suggestions, and feedback to internal stakeholders We are committed to building a diverse team of Datavanters who are all responsible for stewarding a high‑performance culture in which all Datavanters belong and thrive. Salary ranges for this position are developed with the support of benchmarks and industry best practices.
