Job Description

Regional Support and Ignition

Reports To: Sr. Manager, Operational Technology

Travel Requirement: Up to 50% global travel

Position Summary

This position develops, deploys, and supports OT applications for Lear Seating’s manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Operational Technology, the engineer works alongside the Principal OT Engineer to maintain reliable Ignition solutions, resolve technical issues, and help plant and regional teams use the platform effectively. The role combines hands-on development with deployment support, troubleshooting, documentation, and training.

Why This Role Exists

Global platform adoption requires engineering capacity that stays engaged from development through plant handoff and ongoing support. This role helps reduce recurring issues and makes approved solutions easier to deploy and maintain across regions.

What This Role Will Do

The engineer works with the Principal OT Engineer, plant controls engineers, regional support teams, and system integrators. Work follows approved OT standards and release practices, with architecture questions coordinated with the Sr. IT–OT Architect and readiness requirements coordinated with OT Program Enablement.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate the OT roadmap into coordinated program plans, priorities, dependencies, and measures of progress.
  • Coordinate the development, review, and adoption of OT standards and procedures with the responsible technical owners.
  • Lead program readiness and governance reviews; coordinate design reviews with the Sr. IT–OT Architect and technical owners.
  • Manage, coach, and prioritize work for the program enablement engineer.
  • Coordinate solution evaluations against manufacturing needs, approved standards, deployment readiness, and supportability.
  • Coordinate IT, OT, networking, and cybersecurity requirements without changing the ownership of those functions.
  • Define standards adoption and compliance review processes, including documented exceptions and remediation follow-up.
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables, deployment prerequisites, training readiness, and handoff requirements with Regional Support and plants.
  • Track audit findings, readiness gaps, program risks, and corrective actions through resolution with accountable owners.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Automation, Manufacturing Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline preferred.

Experience Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in OT, industrial automation, manufacturing systems, controls engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of people leadership, project leadership, technical leadership, or program leadership experience.
  • Experience coordinating manufacturing technology programs, deployment readiness, standards adoption, or governance processes.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation, OT cybersecurity, industrial networking, and manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional reviews, communicate technical tradeoffs, and resolve competing business and operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Ignition, MQTT, Unified Namespace (UNS), industrial historians, and manufacturing analytics.
  • Experience leading multi-site OT programs, standards adoption, and engineering teams in a global manufacturing organization.
