Accounting Analyst I

Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Controller, responsibilities of the Accounting Analyst II will include, but are not limited to bank reconciliation, grant reporting and payment processing, cash management, project accounting and reporting and periodic and ad hoc reporting and analysis.


Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Properly record, account for and report on:
   1. Bank transfers
   2. Incoming ACH (direct deposit) transactions
   3. Sweep account transactions.
   4. Other banking transactions
2. Must be able to prepare and file (both manually and electronically):
   1. Federal grant reporting documents
   2. Banking reports
   3. Other Federal, State, Regional and Local documents, and reports
3. Develop and maintain procedures for the proper operation of:
   1. Grant reporting
   2. Project accounting
   3. Banking and cash management
4. Analyze, reconcile and report on a variety of accounting transactions including:
   1. Banking and cash management transactions
   2. Budget vs. actual comparisons
   3. General accounting transactions
   4. Other transactions and analysis as requested.
5. Prepare for and participate in the unit's annual financial statement examination.
6. Prepare for and participate in the unit's audits and examinations by other entities (taxation, regulatory, grant compliance, etc.)
7. Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

1. A bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent training and work experience
2. Experience with medium size fund accounting systems
3. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices
4. Knowledge of federally sponsored program regulation (including, but not limited to Circular 2-CFR.200 Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards to Non-Federal Entities - and A- 133 Audits of States, Local Governments, And Non-Profit Organizations)
5. Strong personal computer skills, especially all Microsoft Office application, particularly Word and Excel
6. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
7. Strong report writing skills.
8. Experience working in an Indian Tribal environment.
9. Preferred experience with Fund ware, Spring brook or an equivalent fund financial accounting system
10. Preferred auditing experience, either internal auditing or public accounting firm audit staff
11. Must possess a valid California drivers license and comply with the requirements of the Tribe's driving policy and insurance requirements.
12. Must maintain current insurance coverage, as this position requires driving.
