Senior Propulsion Thermal Management 3D CFD Engineer

Job DescriptionThe RoleThis role within the Global Propulsion Engineering division offers the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative team focused on virtual process development and execution. Propulsion related thermal and multiphase flow simulations are the primary focus. 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models are used to directly impact design and eliminate hardware testing. Simulations are focused on electric motors, drive units, battery cells, engine, and transmission related components.What You’ll DoDevelopment of new and innovative CFD simulations related to electrification propulsion componentsCollaboratively work in small teams focused on the development of complex multiphase flow and/or thermal simulationsApplication of developed and developing capabilities to directly impact design, manufacturing process, and for the elimination of hardware testingProvide component-level and/or system-level design recommendations to Design Responsible Engineers based on interpretation of analysis resultsParticipate in product design and development teams and present analysis results to engineering peers and managementProvide mentoring and technical assistance to colleaguesProvide technical insight for problem resolution by leveraging analysis resultsBenchmarking and evaluation of new procedures, technology, or software toolsContribute to the development of automation tools using Python or JavaYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)Bachelor of Science in Engineering5+ years of experience with CFD simulationsProven expertise in developing new CFD proceduresFamiliarity or practical experience with the principles of vehicle propulsion system design, operation, or testingWhat Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with coursework in heat transfer and fluid mechanics preferred2+ years of experience with STAR-CCM+ or Simerics-MP+2+ years of experience with CFD analysis of propulsion related systemsExperience with CFD optimization toolsExperience with test to model correlationExperience with programming in Python, Java, or equivalent languagesExperience with the latest CFD visualization techniquesLinux experience in distributed computing environmentsKnowledge of Siemens NX CAD modelingLocation: Hybrid.
