Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and lead the next generation of automation solutions supporting enterprise storage and backup infrastructure. This role combines deep software engineering expertise with technical leadership responsibilities and is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving large-scale infrastructure challenges while mentoring others and driving engineering excellence.The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and delivering automation platforms that simplify infrastructure provisioning, configuration, operational management, and self-service capabilities for internal customers. The role requires a strong Python development background, experience with modern software engineering practices, and the ability to collaborate effectively with infrastructure engineers, operations teams, architects, and business stakeholders.As a senior member of the team, this individual is expected to provide technical leadership, influence architectural decisions, promote engineering best practices, and help guide the team's technical direction.Responsibilities:Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirementsDesigns, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintainedMentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stackExecutes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecyclePerforms spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideasAutomates manual release activitiesDesigns, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)Key ResponsibilitiesSoftware Development ArchitectureDesign, develop, test, and maintain automation platforms and services used to manage enterprise storage and backup environmentsBuild scalable APIs, backend services, and automation workflows using PythonDevelop and maintain integrations with enterprise infrastructure, operational tooling, and management platformsDesign solutions that are secure, reliable, maintainable, and operationally efficientCreate reusable frameworks and components that accelerate automation delivery across the organizationRequired Qualifications:8+ years of professional software engineering experienceExpert-level proficiency in PythonExperience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend servicesStrong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, and distributed systemsExperience with MongoDB or other NoSQL database technologiesExperience working with Linux-based environmentsStrong experience with source control systems such as Git and modern development workflowsExperience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practicesExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneouslyDemonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence outcomes across teamsExperience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms in professional software development workflowsDesired Qualifications:Experience developing software in Go (Golang)Experience with enterprise storage technologies (NetApp, Dell, Pure Storage, IBM, or similar platforms)Experience with enterprise backup technologies such as Cohesity, Commvault, Rubrik, Veritas NetBackup, or similar solutionsExperience building automation for infrastructure management and operationsExperience developing internal self-service platforms and service catalogsFamiliarity with event-driven and microservice-based architecturesExperience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management toolsKnowledge of enterprise security, authentication, authorization, and compliance requirementsExperience working in highly regulated or large-scale enterprise environmentsSkills:Application DevelopmentAutomationInfluenceSolution DesignTechnical Strategy DevelopmentArchitectureBusiness AcumenDevOps PracticesResult OrientationSolution Delivery ProcessPythonMongoDBShift:1st shift (United States of America)Hours Per Week: 40Pay Transparency detailsUS - NJ - Jersey City - 101 Hudson St - 101 Hudson (NJ2101)Pay and benefits informationPay range$102,900.00 - $179,900.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.Discretionary incentive eligibleThis role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
