About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 6 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: Experience in Emergency Room setting Description: The Emergency Room features 19 beds, including 3 trauma bays. There is no fast track system. A separate triage area is available, and travelers may triage if qualified, though it is not required. ER holds are intermixed within the ER, and ER RNs manage their own holds. There are 2 rooms that can be easily converted for psychiatric use. In-house security personnel are available. The unit sees approximately 70-95 patients per day. Staff-to-patient ratios are 4:1. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC. Common diagnoses include cardiac issues, gastrointestinal problems, psychiatric concerns, COPD, and other respiratory illnesses. An Emergency Department physician and 2 mid-level providers are present. A charge nurse supervises. Nurse aides, paramedics, patient sitters, and techs are available. The charting system is Allscripts. Respiratory Therapy conducts ABGs and breathing treatments. There are no monitor technicians; RNs read strips themselves. Transport and radiology techs transport patients; portable x-ray and CT services are readily available. Both nurses and phlebotomy staff perform blood draws. Shifts include 7 AM - 7 PM, 7 PM - 7 AM, 3 PM - 3 AM, and 5 PM - 5 AM. There is a weekend requirement every other week. Holidays are required on an A and B rotation. There are no call or standby requirements. There are no floating requirements. The dress code is navy blue scrubs. The cancellation policy allows for 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, and 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks. This is a trauma level unit within an acute care setting.
