Department: New Students and Family Programs Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The Special Projects Coordinator is an entry-level student affairs professional who is a part of the New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) staff responsible for coordinating the first-year student experience of transitioning to college. This position will serve an integral role on the team that coordinates student and family programs and activities that contribute to student success. This position will report to the Director, work closely with the Associate Director, and build collaborative relationships with key campus constitutes. The Special Projects Coordinator researches, develops and executes special projects by providing administrative and functional support to NSFP. The Special Projects Coordinator supervises a team of undergraduate paraprofessionals who assist staff with all departmental programming, events, and office functions. The coordinator will also serve on department and division committees as needed and perform other duties as assigned to achieve organizational goals. In addition, this position will coordinate administrative efforts with Campus Life departments/staff. This position will assist with multiple department events including student training workshops, parent/family engagement events, professional development, etc. The position requires limited evening/weekend hours. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:

• The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree with a major in sociology, public administration, management or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education
• At least two years of experience in program administration or a related area

Preferred Qualifications:

• Higher education work experience
• Experience working with undergraduate students in an office setting
• Experience with event planning and management

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

• Proficient knowledge and skill using computers and software including Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Well developed customer service skills
• Ability to establish and maintain filing and other record keeping systems
• Ability to operate standard office equipment
• Ability to analyze documents to determine compliance with rules, regulations, and procedures
• Highly organized with the ability to work on multiple tasks at any time
