Position Location This position will be located onsite in Norfolk, Virginia. Job Overview The incumbent will perform a full range of janitorial duties related to the care, maintenance, and cleaning of all assigned buildings and facilities. Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered. Responsibilities Essential Job Duties: * Incumbent will clean and sanitize restroom facilities and related fixtures including drinking fountains, refrigerated water coolers, custodial mop sinks, restroom sinks, urinals, showers, and toilets. * Responsible for sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing, stripping, and polishing floors. * Replenish supplies in restrooms, facilities, etc. * Responsible for ensuring all dusting (both high and low) areas are maintained as necessary and polishing furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment. * Wash windows (both interior and exterior), mirrors, and walls. Washing windows may require the use of ladders. * Empty, clean, and sanitize waste receptacles. * Move and arrange furniture and equipment for cleaning and replacement when completed. * Responsible for cleaning window blinds either Venetian or vertical as required. * Identify and report maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities. * Perform specialized projects such as restoration programs on floors, walls, ceilings, furniture, and other items. * Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: * At least 1yr janitorial and floor care experience. * Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. * Must have excellent organizational skills. * Mature judgment and ability to work with little or no supervision. * Be a U.S. Citizen or legal residency alien. * Valid state driver's license with excellent driving record (must provide current driving record). * Must be able to pass background investigation. Working Conditions: * Work is performed mostly indoors, with some outdoor required when directed. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. * Work hours are subject to change, with overtime, nights, weekends and/or holiday work as needed. * Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust odors and elevated noise levels. * Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard, and soft-carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces, and elevated levels using ladders. * While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell. * The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
