Role Purpose

The Enterprise Risk Manager plays a central role in operating Corning’s enterprise risk management program and supporting executive and Board-level risk governance. This role requires a highly proactive, analytically rigorous, and execution-oriented professional who can independently lead core ERM processes end-to-end, translate complex inputs into concise executive-ready insights, drive outcomes through effective partnership across businesses and functions, and operate effectively amid uncertainty and incomplete information. The successful candidate will help strengthen risk awareness, resilience, and decision-making across the enterprise while advancing ERM reporting, tools, and capabilities. The role provides regular exposure to senior executives and contributes directly to discussions that influence enterprise strategy and risk management. The Manager, ERM also plays a key role in advancing ERM capabilities through process improvement, digital enablement, and development of enterprise-level insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and execute core ERM governance processes end-to-end, including annual risk assessments, enterprise risk synthesis, reporting, and follow-up tracking.
  • Partner with businesses and corporate functions to identify, assess, and monitor strategic, operational, financial, legal, reputational, and emerging risks. Develop an enterprise-wide view of risk interdependencies and business implications.
  • Lead the evolution of ERM processes, methodologies, and reporting to strengthen strategic alignment, efficiency, decision-making value, and integration with business planning.
  • Analyze internal and external developments, identify emerging risks and enterprise themes, and translate complex information into concise, executive-level insights and recommendations.
  • Prepare high-quality materials and insights that facilitate executive discussion and decision-making by senior leadership, the Risk Council, and the Board of Directors.
  • Serve as the ERM team’s functional lead for Riskonnect and other risk management technologies, driving reporting, data quality, user adoption, and capability development.
  • Leverage analytics, automation, AI-enabled tools, and knowledge management capabilities to improve the efficiency, scalability, and insightfulness of ERM activities.
  • Monitor key geopolitical, competitive, regulatory, and market developments relevant to Corning’s strategic objectives, including selected regional themes such as China.
  • Support the Director, Enterprise Risk, with strategic initiatives, special projects, and the continued advancement of Corning’s ERM program.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to quickly learn unfamiliar businesses, technologies, and external issues, then translate them into meaningful management insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage data, analytics, digital platforms, and AI-enabled technologies to improve business processes and generate insights.
  • Ability to connect diverse risk indicators, business developments, and stakeholder input into enterprise-level insights.
  • Ability to identify emerging themes, evaluate ambiguous information, and translate early signals into actionable management discussions.
  • Strong judgment regarding materiality, escalation, and the needs of executive-level audiences.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority, establish accountability, and drive work to completion across cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong facilitation skills, including the ability to guide discussions involving complex, cross-functional, and uncertain topics.
  • Operational excellence and sound judgment, with the ability to balance practical execution with strategic thinking.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Familiarity with enterprise risk management concepts and frameworks, including COSO ERM.
  • Understanding of corporate governance, compliance, internal controls, and audit principles.
  • Experience working with external advisors or consultants.
  • Experience across multiple Corning businesses, functions, or enterprise contexts is preferred.
  • Limited travel may be required, typically less than 10%.

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

The range for this position is $132,649.00 - $182,393.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
