REGISTERED NURSE- SCU 13 Week Contract

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care and functions within the organization, in accordance with established philosophy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Graduate of an accredited program in nursing. Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) preferred. Active State of Ohio Registered Nurse Nursing License. CPR - approved by the American Heart Association. ACLS - approved by the American Heart Association. Basic computer skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients on the unit. Initiates and implements patient education and care plan. Ability to assess, critically think, rapidly recognize and respond to clinical changes. Makes nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees. LEADERSHIP CAPABILITIES

Supports standards of nursing care through adherence to existing policies and procedures. Supervises care given by nonprofessional personnel, providing instruction as needed. Regularly attends unit staff meetings.

FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS

Working Conditions and Physical Environment Works in a patient care setting where there is potential exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials; and electrical, fire, chemical, physical contact and equipment hazards. Fast-paced setting with rapid patient turnover. High patient traffic. Close-quartered and shared work space. Sufficient mobility to negotiate physical plant. Strength and endurance sufficient enough to perform physically for long periods of time without sitting (four to eight hours). May include: walking; lifting 25 – 50lbs with or without assistance; bending; twisting; standing; sitting; reaching; stair-climbing and descending. Physical dexterity and psychomotor skills to respond adequately and appropriately to routine and emergency patient care needs in an ambulatory setting. Visual and auditory capabilities sufficient to read information and respond to patient care needs. Ability to work in a computerized environment that includes prolonged sitting and use of keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
