Position Summary

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services under the ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The RBT implements individualized treatment plans, collects accurate data, promotes client safety, communicates professionally with families and team members, and maintains documentation in accordance with BACB standards, payer requirements, and organizational policies.

Position Purpose

To provide safe, ethical, and effective direct ABA treatment that improves client outcomes while maintaining treatment integrity and supporting continuity of care.

Essential Functions

·       Implement individualized treatment plans and behavior intervention plans.

·       Collect accurate session data and maintain treatment integrity.

·       Provide direct one-to-one and group ABA services as assigned.

·       Maintain client dignity, confidentiality, and safety.

·       Communicate significant clinical observations to the supervising BCBA.

·       Complete session documentation accurately and within required timelines.

·       Participate in supervision, competency assessments, and required training.

·       Follow crisis and emergency procedures as trained.

Primary ResponsibilitiesDirect Clinical Services

·       Implement skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs.

·       Use reinforcement and behavior analytic procedures as directed.

·       Promote skill generalization across settings.

Documentation

·       Record objective session data.

·       Complete session notes before the end of the workday or within company policy.

·       Ensure sessions are submitted/converted in the electronic medical record according to organizational expectations.

·       Report documentation errors promptly.

·       Maintain RBT documentation related to supervision and contact requirements with BCBA as set forth by the BACB to remain RBT credential in good and active standing.

Communication

·       Communicate professionally with caregivers and team members.

·       Immediately report client safety concerns, injuries, incidents, or suspected abuse/neglect.

Professional Responsibilities

·       Maintain RBT certification.

·       Participate in required supervision and training.

·       Adhere to dress code, attendance, and confidentiality standards.

Daily Responsibilities

·       Deliver ABA services.

·       Collect data.

·       Complete documentation.

·       Maintain communication with supervising BCBA.

·       Follow client safety procedures.

Weekly Responsibilities

·       Participate in supervision.

·       Review feedback.

·       Prepare treatment materials.

Monthly Responsibilities

·       Complete required training.

·       Maintain certification requirements.

·       Review performance goals.

Annual Responsibilities

·       Complete annual competencies.

·       Maintain active RBT credential.

·       Complete mandatory organizational training.

The RBT implements clinical procedures as designed by the supervising BCBA and does not independently modify treatment protocols. Clinical concerns and recommendations must be communicated to the supervising BCBA.

Required Qualifications

·       High school diploma or equivalent.

·       Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification in good standing.

·       Successful background screening.

·       Ability to meet physical demands of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience working with children with autism or developmental disabilities.

·       CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

Requires standing, walking, kneeling, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds when appropriate, active engagement with clients, and implementation of approved safety procedures. Reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with applicable law.
