Job Summary:Facilitates the physician's performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures.Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly monitoring the maintenance of the sterile field.

Essential Functions:Verifies the surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings the patient to the assigned operating room.Passes instruments to the surgeon during the procedure.Anticipates the surgeon's needs for additional supplies.Performs appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.Prepares sterile dressings and secures them after incision closure.Checks supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure.Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for the procedure.Sets up the sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for the procedure.Helps drape the sterile field.Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.Assists other members of the team with cleaning the room for turnover.Assists in prepping the room for the next patient.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Types of Procedures:Joints, C-sections, General surgery, Gynecology, Urology, ENT, Podiatry, Endoscopy (No interventional procedures).

Call Requirements:Minimum call: 1 night per week, 1 weekend per month.Shifts are typically structured as four 9-hour shifts per week, totaling 36 hours.

Support Staff:Pharmacy available.Phlebotomy services available.Unit Secretary support available during designated hours.Provider coverage includes a hospitalist available 24/7.
