Job Description
WSP is seeking a Power Delivery

Project Manager

for our Power & Energy Power Delivery Management team. The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of project execution of engineering teams, promoting quality deliverables and provide strategic and technical leadership in the development and execution of project controls systems across major infrastructure programs and portfolios. The PM will oversee cost, schedule, and performance management processes, ensuring accurate forecasting, compliance, and reporting that support delivery of complex, multidisciplinary projects. The PM will partner with business leaders, clients, and project executives to implement high-quality controls practices that drive accountability, risk mitigation, and operational excellence. This role also advances innovation in controls methodology, tools, and analytics to continuously enhance performance monitoring and decision support.

The successful candidate may work from a mutually acceptable location within the United States and will be based out of any WSP local office with the ability to work remotely in a hybrid office arrangement. You must have the ability to travel to a WSP and/or Client office for periodic in-person meetings.

This Opportunity
The PM provides technical, administrative, and commercial project management leadership for the development, execution, delivery, management, control and monitoring of Substation, Transmission and Distribution Line projects throughout the US in support of company, regional, and national business line goals. This position will focus on managing engineering projects for Engineer, Procure, Construction (EPC) clients. Ensures all responsibilities throughout the full project lifecycle including proposal phase, planning and project startup, project execution, procurement, construction support, schedule, cost control, reporting, and project closeout are executed, adhered to, delivered, and audited with a level of quality that meets or exceeds corporate and client project excellence and delivery standards. Provides practical leadership, process improvement, and innovative solutions to address schedule, cost, risk, quality, and stakeholder management challenges within a dynamic, regulated, and evolving Power Delivery and energy infrastructure environment. Provide engineering team guidance on providing engineering solutions that not only meet codes and standards but also provide total installed value to the client and ultimate owner/operator of the facility.

Your Impact

Provide project management leadership for small/medium/large - scale/more complex high voltage and EHV projects throughout the US, including initiation, planning, execution, controlling, and closing ensuring support for preparing and overseeing project detailed design, budgets, forecasts, margins and KPIs, monitoring external events and risk contingencies, ensuring satisfactory performance, and managing the contractual obligations to deliver the project or assigned portfolio of assigned project(s) as defined in the contract and client's expectations.

Lead and manage the project execution process including initiation, design, engineering, material procurement, construction support, commissioning, and close-out for multiple concurrent projects.

Manage project implementation including project schedule, project budget, and the project resources including external vendors and contractors.

Lead client discussions and develop/grow client relationships.

Serve as the primary project authority on major project-related issues.

Responsible for metrics tracking, associated reporting to stakeholders, and compliance with regulatory, corporate, and department procedures during all the phases of the project.

Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal staff, management, and the client.

Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams of technical professionals to execute project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, deliverables, compliance documentation, and managing the contractual obligations to deliver the project(s) as defined in the contract.

Actively lead and enforce appropriate technical and constructability reviews, ensuring selection of qualified engineering and discipline leads, adherence to QA/QC programs, and compliance with utility standards and WSP project quality plans.

Provide written and verbal technical input to multi - disciplinary project teams and contribute strategic, risk - informed advisory guidance to clients on schedule, cost, constructability, and execution strategy.

Ensure timely updates and governance compliance for project management systems and documentation, including Risk Registers (REF/RMP), Project Management Plans (PMP), Quality Plans (QP), Project Safety Plans (PSP), and Communications Plans

Facilitate and lead project kick - off, safety, and execution alignment meetings with key internal and external stakeholders to establish roles, responsibilities, and delivery expectations.

Coordinate with area managers, technical leads, and resource managers to address staffing, subcontracting, and specialty support needs in a timely manner

Maintain regular client communications, including monthly progress reporting, safety performance, major risks/issues, and scope or budget impacts, reinforcing WSP's role as a trusted advisor.

Ensure consistent project reporting and governance updates to clients, technical leadership, and business unit managers, proactively identifying emerging scope, schedule, cost, or risk issues

Monitor and manage accounts receivable (AR), unbilled revenue, cash flow, and invoicing, coordinating with project accounting and finance teams to resolve issues and maintain financial health of projects.

Complete formal project closeout activities, including financial closeout, documentation archiving, client acceptance, and lessons - learned workshops to support continuous improvement

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Ensure EPC clients and ultimate owner/operators of the facility expectations are met and/or exceeded.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's in Engineering, Construction Management or other related field within the Power & Energy Market, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm. Candidates with PMP certification will be considered.

10+ years of relevant post education experience in a project management role within the Power Delivery/Utility Industry.

Minimum of 3 years applicable industry experience working and/or providing services for IOUs, IPPs, Co-Ops, Munis, EPCs, etc.

Minimum of 3 years of experience leading engineering and/or construction teams on medium to large electrical utility scale clients for high voltage and/or extra high voltage transmission line type projects.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in managing engineering projects with an Engineer, Procure, Construction (EPC) delivery model.

Highly proficient understanding of project delivery process, specifically EPC delivery model, within the Power Delivery/Utility industry and strong background and experience in project management.

Advanced analytical and organizational skills with demonstrated business and commercial acumen, enabling effective integration of project controls, financial performance, risk management, and client objectives.

Advanced proficiency with critical thinking, risk-based decision making, and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomes.

Advanced proficiency with interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively, persuasively, and tactfully with leadership, clients, subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams.

Excellent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC, safety, and delivery standards.

Advanced proficiency with technical writing, project documentation, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools.

Demonstrated ability to influence and gain cooperation from a broad range of stakeholders, including senior leadership, clients, subcontractors, consultants, and matrixed internal teams, without formal authority.

Proven commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental performance, including adherence to WSP safety programs, drug/alcohol policies, and harassment - free workplace standards.

Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet project-specific needs.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations): $150,000 - $190,000
