Assistant / Associate Professor in Pharmacology

The Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine is seeking a full-time, faculty member (will entertain part-time) of a rank of Assistant / Associate Professor. The candidate will primarily be responsible for teaching and coordinating the Pharmacology course. The successful candidate may also demonstrate expertise in teaching in other areas of basic or clinical science associated with the individual's specialty area and experience.

The Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine – Scholl is the name to know in podiatric medicine. Founded in 1912 by a pioneer in podiatry, Scholl College is an international resource in the field. In fact, one out of three podiatrists in the U.S. is a Scholl College alumnus. As part of Rosalind Franklin University (RFU), we provide a fully accredited, four-year professional program leading to the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree, along with opportunities for a combined DPM/PhD degree.

Essential duties and responsibilities include coordinating and teaching the Pharmacology course to Podiatric medical students, potentially coordinating and/or teaching in other basic or clinical science courses, mentoring students in aspects of the curriculum and in their professional development, providing formative and summative assessment questions, participating in curriculum development and assessment, providing service to the College, University, and Profession, participating in interviewing podiatric medical school student candidates, staying current in the scholarship of their discipline and teaching methodology, participating in faculty development activities sponsored by the Department, College, and University, maintaining a collegial relationship with all faculty and staff of the College and University, and other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Basic Biomedical Sciences.

All full-time faculty members employed by RFUMS are expected to engage in activities that are considered core to their primary role as a faculty member. These activities may include teaching, scholarly activity, and service.

Teaching responsibilities vary and may include direct instruction, curriculum management, assessment, advising and mentoring for students. Scholarly activities may include original scholarship, grant procurement, research mentoring. Service activities may include committees, contributions to the profession, recruitment, direct patient care. Scholarly activities and/or clinical activities are negotiated and determined at the department level and are primarily based upon the faculty track.

Required education and experience include earned a terminal academic doctoral degree (PharmD, PhD in Pharmacology or related fields, DPM, MD, and DO or equivalent). An official transcript for the highest degree earned and/or the highest clinical degree earned, if different and relevant to the position.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include ability to work collaboratively with clinical and basic science faculty, effective teaching skills grounded in a strong knowledge of educational theory and methodology, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills and problem-solving ability, high level of integrity and strong work ethic, demonstrated reliability and dependability, commitment to student learning and well-being, and ability to quickly master modern educational technology.

Preferred qualifications include experience in teaching basic sciences and/or clinical sciences at an accredited graduate or professional college, experience in developing board-style, multiple-choice questions.
