Cardiac Sonographer

Job Summary:


The Echocardiology Technologist (Echo Tech/Cardiac Sonographer) is responsible for performing diagnostic echocardiography procedures to assess cardiac function and structure. The role includes preparing patients, operating ultrasound equipment, and ensuring high-quality imaging for accurate diagnosis. The technologist must be proficient in starting IVs for contrast studies and collaborate effectively with clinical teams. This position operates in a critical access hospital setting with a focus on patient care and diagnostic accuracy.

Responsibilities:

• Perform echocardiographic examinations including transthoracic and contrast studies.
• Prepare patients for procedures and explain the process to ensure comfort and cooperation.
• Start intravenous lines for contrast administration as required.
• Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
• Document procedures and maintain accurate patient records using electronic charting systems.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to support patient diagnosis and treatment plans.
• Adhere to hospital policies and safety protocols in all procedures.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Certification or licensure as an Echocardiology Technologist or Cardiac Sonographer.
• Proficiency in starting IVs for contrast studies.
• Experience with echocardiography equipment and diagnostic imaging techniques.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a clinical setting.
• Strong communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in a critical access hospital or similar healthcare environment.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, preferably Epic.
• Additional certifications in cardiac imaging or related specialties.

Special Considerations:

• No on-call or weekend shifts required.
• Position does not float between units.
• Must comply with hospital safety and infection control standards.

Scheduling:

• Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM shift.
• No block schedules or weekend requirements.
