General Manager - MetalMax, LLC

Reports to: National Manager & Director of Operations Job Summary: The General Manager, Cherokee is responsible for the overall performance, leadership, and business development of the MetalMax Cherokee branch operations. The position will be accountable for driving profitable sales growth, operational performance, customer service, manufacturing, delivery, safety, and employee development. In addition, this General Manager will lead key growth and distribution initiatives, including identifying opportunities to improve service, reducing costs, expand distribution capabilities and support future growth. Essential Functions: Provide leadership, coaching and accountability to the team helping them achieve sales, profitability, operational, customer service, safety, and people objectives. Maintain accountability for the overall financial and operating performance of the branch. Achieve sales, gross margin, operating expense, and profitability objectives and develop corrective action plans when results are below expectations. Aggressively develop business with new customers and maximize sales opportunities with existing customers throughout the area. Work with the team to identify sales opportunities, develop customer relationships, understand competitive activity, and improve market penetration. Review branch performance regularly, including sales, gross margin, operating costs, labor productivity, inventory, delivery performance, customer service, and profitability. Ensure Company operating procedures, policies, safety requirements, and management processes are consistently followed. Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing productivity, quality, material utilization, inventory accuracy, delivery efficiency, and operating costs. Coordinate with MetalMax leadership and other company operations to determine how rail transportation and distribution capabilities can support future growth. Develop relationships with railroads, transportation providers, suppliers, and other external partners necessary to support regional distribution initiatives. Other duties and projects assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated success leading a manufacturing, distribution, or multifunctional operating business. Experience managing through other managers and developing leadership talent. Strong financial and business acumen, including experience managing sales, gross margin, operating expenses, and profitability. Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships and drive profitable sales growth. Strong understanding of manufacturing, distribution, logistics and inventory management. Experience with rail transportation, distribution networks or complex logistics is a plus. Experience in metal roofing, steel processing, roll forming, or related industries is a plus. Ability to balance strategic initiatives with hands on operating leadership. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to quickly identify and address performance issues. Energetic, entrepreneurial, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Ability and willingness to travel across the United States as required. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; 7+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in manufacturing, distribution, sales, or general management. Equivalent relevant operating and leadership experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. The person in this position must always be aware of their surroundings and be able to quickly recognize and identify potentially dangerous situations that need addressed in the shop.
