Team Manager

Summary of Position:

The Motorsports Team Manager is responsible for overseeing the preparation, logistics, and execution of motorsports events. This role requires a deep understanding of race car operations, client management, and team coordination to ensure optimal performance and client satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Client and Event Coordination

• Communicate with clients and management to determine appropriate car and driver assignments for various track events.

• Develop and maintain a master calendar tracking all race-related events and resource commitments.

• Balance client requests with operational efficiency by prioritizing personnel and equipment assignments.

• Foster positive relationships with clients, ensuring their motorsports requirements are met and their event participation aligns with their skills and interests.

Operational Oversight

• Establish and manage logistical support systems, including trackside support, technical support, driver coaching, and transportation.

• Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., Body Shop, Fabrication) to ensure resource availability and timelines are met.

• Verify timely delivery of necessary equipment, such as tires, spare parts, tools, driver gear, and trackside hospitality supplies.

Staffing and Resource Management

• Create staffing schedules and workflows to prepare race cars for events.

• Oversee race car preparation, quality control checks, and trackside maintenance to comply with racing regulations.

• Build relationships with skilled contractors, ensuring appropriate contracts are in place. Recommend additions, renewals, or terminations of contractor agreements as necessary.

Safety and Compliance

• Ensure all work adheres to safety standards and racing regulations.

• Evaluate the condition of race cars after incidents, prioritizing driver safety and client communication.
  Report events involving significant property damage, injuries, or potential liabilities promptly to management.

Financial Accountability

• Operate within established budgetary guidelines for expenses and capital expenditures.

• Document the use of consumables, spare parts, and trackside purchases to facilitate accurate billing and invoicing.

Travel Requirements

• Travel extensively, often for extended periods, to support consecutive or overlapping events.

• Adapt to irregular hours, long workdays, and outdoor work in various weather conditions.

Miscellaneous

• Support for and Adherence to Kellymoss’s policies and procedures.

• Attendance is an essential function of the job.

• All other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

• Associates Degree in Business Management, related field or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to be successful in the position.

Experience Required:

• 8+ years of experience in motorsports.

• 3-5+ years in a supervisory role

• Proven progression in technical roles within a motorsports team (e.g., Technician → Car Chief → Crew Chief).

• Extensive knowledge of race car mechanics, preferably Porsche.

• Familiarity with racing series rules and regulations.

Environmental Conditions:

General Office Environment: Noise level in the office environment is generally quiet.

Shop Environment: Noise level in the shop environment is generally low to moderate. Occasional exposure to higher noise levels for short periods of time. May be required to wear appropriate hearing protection.

Track Environment: Noise level at the race track can exceed 100 dB for 45 minutes or more. Hearing protection will be required. Eye protection may be required. Employee will be exposed to the elements in an environment without climate control.

Physical Requirements:

If performing shop duties: Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach above shoulders; use foot/feet to operate equipment; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
