Custodian (OPS)

Compensation $18.00 per hour* (inclusive of mandatory 4.5% retirement contribution to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF)). Hours 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM (M-F) – 3 hours per shift. For more details, visit the District website. General Description The Custodian is responsible for providing students with safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient learning environments. Qualifications Ability to lift 50 pounds. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to perform duties in a thoughtful, courteous, confidential, and considerate manner. Team player with a strong work ethic. Physical ability to perform job functions including cleaning, moving furniture, and operating machinery. Specific Responsibilities Keep assigned building(s) neat and clean at all times as defined in the Custodial Procedures Manual. Report repairs, supplies needed, and any property damage to the Building Engineer or Operations/Building Administrators. Maintain communication with the Custodial Supervisor and Operations Leadership regarding schedules. Remain on the school premises, wear district uniform, and display district ID card during all school hours (except lunch break) and non‑school hours for rentals or special events. Assume responsibility for opening and closing assigned building(s) each school day; ensure all doors and windows are secured, and all lights (except those left on for safety) are turned off. Move furniture or equipment within building(s) as required for various activities and as directed by the Principal or Building Engineer. Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste. Assist in keeping grounds free from rubbish, litter, snow, and ice. Change light bulbs as needed.
