. This associate-level opportunity offers a professional and rewarding experience within a dynamic Medical Practice environment.

In this role, you will provide expert anesthesia care for both adult and pediatric patients, working alongside dedicated surgical and clinical teams. As a locum tenens physician, you will bring flexibility and specialist expertise to the practice, ensuring safe, effective anesthesia management across a variety of procedures.

 

Responsibilities

• Administer anesthesia for surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures across adult and pediatric populations.
• Perform thorough pre-anesthetic evaluations to develop individualized anesthesia care plans.
• Monitor and manage patients' vital signs throughout procedures, adjusting anesthesia as needed.
• Manage airway, ventilation, and hemodynamic stability during anesthesia and recovery.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Provide post-anesthetic care and support for pain management in recovery settings.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, including code situations, and deliver appropriate resuscitation.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant patient records in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives within the practice.
• Supervise and support junior medical staff or trainees when applicable.
• Ensure conformity with hospital policies, professional guidelines, and ethical standards.
• Provide on-call coverage as required for the contract assignment.

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Board certification or active board eligibility in Anesthesiology.
• Fellowship training or demonstrated clinical experience in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
• Valid medical license to practice in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain one promptly.
• Associate-level experience in anesthesiology, including exposure to pediatric cases.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective team collaboration.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, on-site clinical setting.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules, case mix, and hospital requirements.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care.
• Level I Pediatric Trauma Center

Schedule: 7a-3p or 7a-5p

No call required

20 ORs

Must be comfortable handling high acuity/sick pediatrics

Treating neonatal (0-6 months)

Medical Direction: 1:2, sometimes perform own cases

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified

DEA required
