Job Summary:
This Medical Surgical Floor nurse position is located in Carroll, Iowa. The role involves providing nursing care in a 19-bed unit specializing in general medical and surgical patients, including pediatric cases. The assignment requires delivering quality care in a fast-paced environment, supporting various patient needs such as pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and post-surgical recovery.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts starting at 7:00 AM, with a 6-week cyclic schedule; minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice nursing, ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), PALS certification; minimum of 3 years of general medical-surgical or pediatric experience and at least 1 year of travel nursing experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a hospital setting involving Heparin drip management and telemetry interpretation is advantageous.
• Special Unit Notes: Nurse-to-patient ratios goal of 1:4, potentially up to 1:6; float to CCU or OB units as needed; no telemetry techs, so interpretation skills are preferred.
• Additional Information: The unit emphasizes quality initiatives and expects staff to actively participate. Physical keys are required for medication drawer access, with security protocols in place. The team supports a positive work culture, encouraging professionalism and teamwork.
