Your responsibilities will include: Preparing and organizing the surgical suite with the right instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure safe, efficient procedures Supporting patients with transport, positioning, prepping, and draping while protecting their comfort, privacy, and safety Scrubbing in and assisting the surgeon by providing instruments, handling specimens, and anticipating the needs of the team Monitoring equipment and patient status throughout procedures, taking quick, effective action when needed Maintaining a sterile field, ensuring thorough room turnover, and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team culture What qualifications you will need: Education: High School graduate or GED equivalent required. Graduate of a surgical technologist program OR hires prior to 9/1/2009 may substitute with 1-year experience in a hospital setting as a surgical technologist. Experience: None required (unless used in lieu of education as stated above). Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable). Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required: NON-CERTIFIED: No license, certificate or registrations required for the Sterile Processing Department All other departments no license, certificate or registration required if they meet the below provision: Per Texas HB 643, surgical technologists entering practice after 09/01/2009 must have and maintain a surgical technologist certification. Individuals that performed in a surgical technologist position prior to 09/01/2009 are not required to obtain a surgical technologist certification. CERTIFIED: Must have and maintain ONE of the following: CST – Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) (formally the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist) OR TS-C- Tech in Surgery, Certified through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Benefits Methodist Hospital, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
