Patient Accounts Representative

Responsibilities Heritage Oaks Hospital, part of the UHS Family of Providers, is a fully accredited, 125‑bed acute psychiatric hospital located in northern Sacramento, offering full range of individually tailored treatment services to patients of all ages, including substance abuse and chemical dependency treatment. The Patient Account Representative is responsible for submittal of electronic and manual billings, account statements, and for follow‑up with third‑party payers and patients for outstanding balances. The position also prepares daily cash receipts and maintains insurance logs. Prepare and submit insurance billings to primary and secondary payers. Transmit all billings to third‑party payers, either manually or electronically as requested. Provide assistance in contacting third‑party payers at a 30‑day interval after billing to assure that bills have been received and are being processed. Experience: Minimum two (2) years in insurance billing is preferred. Any combination of education, training, or experience in a hospital business office is required. Experience with billing, computers, and business software programs is preferred. Additional Requirements: CPR certification required. May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours. Completion of Handle with Care class within 30 days of employment and prior to participating in a code green is required.
